Meet Our Riders & Drivers

Linda Peacock has Spastic Paraparesis, Linda said,

Driving and riding at Cobbes Meadow has improved my balance, helped me regain my confidence and more than anything it is the place where I feel very ‘able!’ It is my tonic, the place where my friends are, an extremely important part of my life”.

Stephen Holland has cerebral palsy, Stephen said,

When I started riding at Cobbes Meadow I could not even sit in the saddle properly. I now do carriage driving too and can walk and trot the horses myself. It has made a big difference to my muscles therefore helping my walking”.

I look forward to Wednesdays because every morning I get ready in my riding clothes to go to Cobbes Meadow RDA riding school for the disabled. When we get there we are greeted by very friendly volunteers. They help us mount on the horses safely and teach us how to ride and look after the horses properly. My favourite horse to ride is Rosie because she has a lovely temperament and she loves to work hard, she also listens to what you want her to do. We have learnt Dressage and we have also gone to a Dressage competition. We are now doing our grade 3 work. I am enjoying doing the grade 3 work because I like the challenge. I think Rosie does too. I love riding and I will never give it up for the world.
